GEN-DE Words appended to death records
Listers, I'm researching in Westfalen in 1800. Most death entries on the page have some words appended. I know that "in der Stille" means without ringing the church bells. Another entry says, "in der halben Schulen" and still another says "in der ganzen Schulen." Two entries on the page contain none of these words. One, that I'm not concerned with, contains a lot more words: "von der ganzen Schule beyleitet, beerdiget worden."... more »

german genealogy on aol
Anyone here a retro aol user? I've been archiving all the aol 2.5 and 3.0 areas that the new version of aol no longer promotes (forums, chat rooms, and file libraries). In the process, I found some aol areas related to german genealogy that might bring back some memories for some of you here (if you even used aol). The archive isn't complete so if you have any aol links, please send them to me so I can continue to build on what I have so far.... more »
