Announcement: Addition to Web Site
|

From time to time I develop tools and parts for PSpice to ease (and speed up) circuit development. One of my pet peeves has been that DC, F and G current sources will just merrily keep pumping right out to an infinite voltage. So I have posted on the Subcircuits and Symbols Page of my web site, CompliantParts.SLB... allowing setting a voltage at which the current... more »

BLDC speed control
|
| |
Hello all, I am interested in driving an industrial-type brushless DC motor with a hobby-type electronic speed controller. There are industrial speed controllers but they are larger, heavier, and much more expensive. Are there any issues with doing this? What is different between the two? I did see a warning in a manual for an RC ESC which said that it... more »

OT: Atomic Bombing (podcast)
|

Off topic, but just want to share a really good podcast that I'm listening too in the background this afternoon: [link] It's a straight reading of a military report on the bombings. It's in 8 separate MP3 files. (Totally free.)... more »

Board + Proto Fab under one roof? Experience?
|
| |
Hello Folks, Got another board coming down the pike in 2-3 workdays. It's huge, 16" by 16" and quite full. Initially we'll only need one. The client doesn't want to hand-stuff and pointed out this place that looks like it takes the Gerbers and delivers a stuffed board: [link]... more »

XP USB Thumb Drive Removal
|
| |
I occasionally get a Windows error saying a USB drive can't be stopped and to try again later. (Even though the drive is not being accessed.) This happens when I try to eject the drive using the icon in the bottom right taskbar. And of course, waiting and trying later does not work... Sometimes, I can do a right-click, Start, explore to bring up a... more »

DC/DC converter foldback proteccion.
|
| |
Hello everybody, I'm a junior engineer. I need design a 600V DC supply. I have tree lineal converter of 1000V. And I need protect its because the maximum current is 1.5mA. I thought protect the power supply with a foldback circuit but is very difficult for me because I have very high voltage and very small current.... more »

AA & 9V battery short circuit current
|
| |
Hello everyone, A battery powered product is headed for “intrinsically safe” certification. The main test documented in prior certificates uses the open circuit voltage and short circuit current from the power source to see if an explosive mixture of gases can be ignited. The circuit capacitance is... more »
