in my experience, short-term exposure to altitude can be a bitch on recovery. so i'm wondering if that's going to have an effect on D2 vs A3 saturday morning at nats. i've never liked that schedule, but in the thin boulder air maybe it's even worse.
we'll assume michigan and texas are battling for the pool win in the final game on friday, and we'll assume that it's a sick game because it's 4v5, so it goes to the end of the round at 6:30. the loser of that game gets to play A3 at 8:30am the following morning. my problem is that A3 has been done since 3:30 (at the latest). those three hours might not seem like much. but i think it's tough for D2 to fit in warmdown, travel, shower, dinner, ice-bath and enough sleep to be back at the fields at 7:15 the next morning.
non-issue? does anyone else think that north texas or illinois is gonna be in a good position to take down D2 saturday morning?

I think it's an issue. Not quite as big of an issue as the pre- quarter bye that the pool winners get, but still a serious issue.

The reality is that anyone in pools B, C, or D that play a pool A team are in that boat...

One of the pools has to have a last round bye. No getting around that. Whether the extra half-hour delay in some of the last round games is beneficial for the athletes is questionable. Fans probably enjoy it. On the other hand, teams that rely on a short rotation probably prefer as many breaks between games as possible if the weather is warm.

Irrelevant now in your scenario. Michigan and Texas may not make it to Sunday.
yeah, crazy. D is gonna be a four-way tie and come down to pee vs fire tactics. but even if harvard or UGA are D2, their day ends at 6pm so my point still holds true minus half an hour.
if i were arguing with anyone, this is the point i would say i told you so. probably the first prediction i've ever gotten right, so i gotta broadcast it a little.

I think the fact that D3 beat A2 devalues that prediction a bit.
yeah, i always get hosed by something. i know it didn't go this way, but i'm less interested in the D3 v A2 because it's a theoretical 9 beating 8 seed. as opposed to 12 beating 5. in theory...
