Can somebody clarify why Stanley Gibbons places the 15c violet war tax stamp under "War tax Stamp" yet I had to search around in Edifil, to find it listed under "No expendidos" Is there a subtle difference I am missing? Thanks.

I wonder if anyone has access to TB seals cat? This looks similar to a Rockwell Kent design (the fellow who designed the 1925 Norway Polar bear airmails) Is this seal American, and if so the designer? Thanks. [link]

Beware of ebay's shipping calculator

Gday I just sold an old album to someone in Canada and good ole ebay calculated the shipping cost of a flat rate international box as $24.95 but the USPS actually charges $29.95. The purchaser, not surprisingly, paid me $24.95 and I see no reason why they should pay any more. I have asked ebay to refund my 5 bucks which, considering it cost me about $15 to list and sell the album, they can probably afford to do. So, if... more »

On other alt and rec groups I have more than once seen pictures posted together with text without any problems. It would be so easy to post a scan and under it say: can anyone help me id this stamp? instead of going to cjoint, creating a link, and providing a url. Someone in a classical music group objected to posting pictures because, according to him, some posters... more »

Has anyone had dealings with Marlen Stamps? I tried to buy a much wanted sheet of stamps and advised him that I had problems with PayPal and would have to use my credit card. He replied that he was putting aside a sheet for me and credit card was OK. I sent credit card information twice but got no further response.... more »
