How can uClinux work with no MMU ?

I'm interested in linux on minimum electric consumption hardware. Surely, linux being a pre-emptive multi-tasking OS *MUST* have substantial memory-management ? So what can uClinux do ? Isn't the MMU facility based on suitable hardware, too ? ==TIA.

I am looking for a Linux distro to test on an old PC that has the following specs. How to read a specific line from a file on command line ? For instance, I have file named test.txt, and I like to read the line 45, one single line only. Does any command I can retrieve the line 45 from the file text.txt ? Thanks.

How to identify if running process is 32-bit or 64-bit? I have few processes running and need to identify which is 64-bit and which is 32-bit. Can ps help?
