MRTG
I have just installed MRTG for one of my local users. He is using an old version of MRTG and the new one provides alot more information. When we run cfgmaker, we are getting graphs for every single port on each switch. We want to limit this to the first port on each switch. So far, I have not been able to determine the exact syntax to specify... more »

MRTG BayStack 450 cfgmaker commenting out ports.
Hey all, First time poster. I was wondering if someone can help me out with an issue I am having with MRTG. When I run my cfgmaker on BayStack 450's it comments ports probed inactive at that point in time. However these ports are NOT inactive there are indeed things plugged into them. When cfgmaker runs over other switches in my network (bps 2000s, 460s, 5510s etc.) inactive ports are NOT commented out. What makes the 450's different? How can I tell cfgmaker to stop commenting out these ports.... more »

Size of SNMP query
Hi, I am a newbie in MRTG. I used MRTG with RRDtool support. Can anyone please give me an idea how much data would be pulled per SNMP query? Or does it depend on different factors? Thanks and regards, Firdous Saleheen

MRTG with DD-WRT
Hi folks, I have some windows PC's behind a linksys router (WRT54G v1) running DD-WRT v24. I would like to know if MRTG connecting to the DD-WRT SNMP will allow me to do IP accounting (monthly traffic totals) for each PC behind the router???? MRTG looks quite daunting, and it would be nice to know in advance if... more »

basic question about monitoring bandwidth
Hello, I want to monitor bandwidth on a switch using SNMP and ifHCInOctets and ifHCOutOctets. My question is ifHCIn/OutOctets gives the total value in bytes receieved on the interface so it will grow and grow. I want to get mbits per second for this. Do i just take 2 readings at 1 min interval, obtain the difference. Divide it by 60 to get bytes... more »
