Audio time lag and other basics

OK, so I bought my first HDTV, a 5-series Samsung. Great picture from an over-the-air antenna. The TV's audio isn't the greatest, and I'd like better. What I used to do was pipe the audio out from my SDTV to a regular FM receiver's tape monitor input, so the stereo system would work simultaneously with the TV's speaker. Hi All We have a 6 year old Toshiba 50inch rear projection TV. Would anyone know what the "Lumen" rating, & contrast ratio would have been on screens of this vintage ? Thanks & Regards j&c

I bought this av receiver in 2001. It is hooked up to a Yamaha NS-P420 speaker system, and also has a center channel speaker. Since day 1, I have only run this system in the 6 channel surround sound mode. I've only run the subwoofer on various occasions over the last 7 years. Maybe 10 times at the most. I recently changed the light bulb in it so that might have something to do with it; but I do not know whether or not this problem existed before, after, or as a result of the change. Got a friend who wishes to repurpose an older Mac G4 into a Home Theatre PC similar to what I and many other users are doing with Intel/Windows PC's. Anyone know of Mac/Apple software that can run on an non-Intel unit. I think what he is going to need is a bit torrent client, video conversion software and video play back software.... more »
